Common Name: Cardinal Scarlet Temple

Alternantha reineckii 'Cardinalis' is a cultivar variant of the Alternantha reineckii species, known for its stunning ornamental qualities. Native to South America, this aquatic plant is highly sought-after by aquarium enthusiasts for its vibrant appearance and unique characteristics.

One of the distinguishing features of Alternantha reineckii 'Cardinalis' is its narrower leaves compared to the more common 'Rosaefolia' variety. When exposed to intense lighting, these leaves take on deep red hues, adding a warm and captivating element to any aquascape. This species has an upright growth habit, giving it a more vertical appearance compared to its relative, Alternantha reineckii 'Ocipus'.

This plant is grown in-vitro and is kept in a nitrient medium. Carefully remove from cup and rince the roots and plants in aquarium water to remove the medium. Seperate into portions and plant into the soil with aquascaping tweezers.

High light intensity and addition of CO2 improves the plants growth and overall appearance. Regular trimming can encourage bushier growth, and the clippings can be planted into the substrate to create new clusters, further enhancing the visual appeal of your aquarium.
