Common Name: Matogrosso milfoil
Myriophyllum matogrossense originates from Mato Grosso in the Rio Amazonas, Brazil. It has decorative and feather-like, reddish stems (30-60 cm long) and finely divided bright green leaves (5 cm wide). This plant is a good starter plant. Starter plants are fast growing plants that take up a lot of nutrients and help prevent algae growth. Great for new setups.
Myriophyllum mattogrossense
This plant is grown in-vitro and is kept in a nutrient medium. Gently remove plant from cup and rinse in a containor of aquarium water to remove the medium. Remove any dead leaves. Seperate into portions and plant into substrate with aquascaping tweezers.
A medium category plant which means will do well with medium light and medium injection of CO2. In good light conditions the leaves spread out in a fan shape. Myriophyllum is relatively easy and is suitable for the background. It needs frequent trims to maintain its bushy form. It is fast growing and requires a good deal of nutrition. This can be supplimented with nutrition capsules and liquid fertelizers.
